Founders Day Celebration in Togo
In Kara
To highlight Marianist Founders Day this year, the Marianist Family present in Kara gathered at Chaminade High School on Sunday, January 24, 2021. The theme for the occasion: “What would Chaminade and Adele do if they had the corona virus around this time? ” has been developed by Bro. Henri BARAGOU, from the Bx Chaminade community of Kara. Immediately afterwards, Mass was presided over by Fr. Jonas Kpatcha, Regional of the Marianist Brothers of Togo. Fraternal sharing enabled the brothers and sisters to rebuild their strength. The 3 o’clock prayer ended the day.
It was also the patronal feast of Chaminade High School of Kara. Various activities marked the day of Friday, January 22, 2021. Among others:
Exchange and discussion on Founders and their works (screening of a documentary for certain classes, gymnastics at stadium, football match and launch of the competition with the theme: “Chaminade and his educational work” in prelude to the 260th anniversary of BL. Father Chaminade birthday. The school chaplain Fr. Robert SIDAKOU presided over the Mass on the school stadium. The day ended in the afternoon with sporting activities and popular celebrations. All the activities were performed while respecting the safety measures due to covid-19 pandemic.
In Sotouboua
In the Central Region, it is the parish Saint Joseph Artisan of Adjengré which welcomed the Marianist Family. It all began at 8:30 am with the welcoming and site setup, followed by the conference-debate on the theme: “What would Blessed Chaminade and Adele say and do in the context of the corona virus?” animated by the adult and young sodalities. At 10:30 am, there was the prayer of the rosary animated by the Alliance Mariale.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided by Fr. Ignace Pagnan, chaplain of Robert Mattlé technical High School. A light meal was shared followed by some useful information and the 3 o’clock paryer ended the day.
In Lomé
In Lomé, this celebration took place with the Daughters of Mary Immaculate in Agoè nyivé in the Lomé North-West deanery. The day was opened with Mass at 8 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Jean Eudes LAWSON, director of the Bx Jakob Gapp community in Lomé. It was animated by the Marianist sisters. Immediately afterwards, the Alliance Mariale hosted the conference on the theme: “What would Blessed Chaminade and Adele say and do in the context of the corona virus?” An exchange followed, which led to 12 noon with the sharing of light meal. The day ended with news form each branch of the Marianist Family and the 3 o’clock prayer at 2:30pm.
In Natitingou
At Chaminade High School Pèporiyakou of Natitingou in Benin, it was also the patronal feast of the school. Several activities were organized to highlight the event. Earlier on Thursday, January 21, 2021 in the afternoon, the Budding Genius competition took place followed by the science club exhibition (a solar energy montage). On Friday, January 22, 2021, still in the afternoon, it was the turn of the various finals. On Saturday, January 23, 2021, it all started with Mass presided over by Fr. Victorin SAGUI, Chaplain of Consecrated Life. After the eucharistic celebration, there was the award ceremony to the various winners and the launch of the literary, cultural, art and craft, technical and scientific creation competition. In the afternoon, different groups performed for the joy and happiness of all those present.
In Lomé (ADSIS)
The children of the ADSIS foundation were not left out. ADSIS is a Catholic action movement that supports disadvantaged children in school. On Saturday, January 23, 2021, Br Moise Tchamoussa, representative of SM-TG with ADSIS briefly exposed the life of BL. Chaminade to these children at the Marianist Center for Human and Spritual Formation (MCEF) in Lomé.
