Christmas: Sacrement of Poverty and Tenderness

Whatsapp

It is Christmas!
The child-God defeated all distances
To become one of us,

And set up once and for all his tent among us,
We who think of building palaces for him to live there.

He comes to kiss the earth,
An earth embarrassed by a Coronavirus,
A corona that crystallizes all its ills.
He’s there carrying with him a crown of blessings.

He is there and just when we expected him,
There, in the greatest simplicity, he lets himself be found,
In a gathered family, In the tender arms of Mary,
Mary, the woman of regenerated humanity;
Under Joseph’s watchful eye,
Joseph, the shadow on earth of the Heavenly Father.

It’s Celebration on Earth!
Feast of God’s humility,
Who out of love makes himself small and poor.
His birth is the sacrament of poverty
Who saves the earth,
Makes all human beings Brothers of the same Father,
And friends of the earth and all in it.

Happy are those who, like Him, know how to cherish poverty,
Who knows how to welcome his weakness with deep tenderness;
He will share the Kingdom of Heaven,
Where the angels sing endlessly:
Gloria!
